Data Scientist (12‑month fixed‑term contract)
The role is based in Cork or Dublin; the successful candidate will be required to travel to the Cork office. As a Data Scientist you will deliver high‑impact analytics and data applications to support commercial decision‑making across supplier negotiations, pricing, margin optimisation and commercial planning.
What You’ll Be Doing
Leading end‑to‑end delivery of commercially focused data science initiatives, from problem definition through to deployment and business adoption.
Designing and building interactive data applications and decision‑support tools (e.g. Streamlit‑based apps) that enable scenario analysis across supplier performance, pricing, volume, margin, and investment decisions.
Supporting supplier negotiations and joint business planning by developing predictive models and scenario tools that quantify trade‑offs and negotiation levers.
Moving beyond static reporting by embedding analytics, models, and logic into scalable, user‑friendly data products.
Partnering closely with Commercial, Trading, Finance, Supply Chain and Technology teams to ensure analytics are embedded into day‑to‑day decision‑making.
Coaching and mentoring junior analysts and data scientists and contributing to shared best practices across the Data Science & Analytics function.
Acting as a trusted analytics partner to senior Commercial stakeholders, translating complex analysis into clear insights and recommendations.
What We’re Looking For
Passionate about using data, analytics and AI to drive business performance.
3–5 years’ progressive experience in a Data Scientist, Commercial Analyst or similar role.
Understanding and experience of data analysis and manipulation techniques.
Experience combining analytic methods with advanced data visualisations.
Experience applying computational algorithms and statistical methods to structured and unstructured data.
Ability to break down and clearly define problems.
Demonstrated ability to own and deliver projects that generate real business value.
Strong communication, presentation and influencing skills.
Flexibility to work on one’s own initiative and as part of a team.
Commercial acumen.
Advanced Excel and Power BI skills.
Ability to query large data sets using SQL; experience with cloud‑based environments is an advantage.
A third‑level qualification in Statistics, Computer Science, Data Science or an equivalent field.
