Statutory Notice: Modifications to all Natural Gas Supply Licences issued by the Commission pursuant to Section 16(1)(a) of the Gas (Interim)(Regulation) Act 2002.
The Commission for Regulation of Utilities (the ‘’CRU’’) hereby gives notice of modifications to all Natural Gas Supply Licences issued by the Commission pursuant to Section 16(1)(a) of the Gas (Interim)(Regulation) Act 2002.
The CRU has a responsibility to ensure there is a high standard of protection for all final energy customers. In 2016, the CRU was granted powers to carry out investigations and impose administrative sanctions on licensees. These sanctions may be imposed where there is a finding of “improper conduct” in terms of a licensee’s failure to comply with standards of performance as specified by the CRU.
Following a consultation process, the CRU specified those licence conditions in its decision paper of 15 December 2022, Specification of Standards of Performance in Natural Gas Supply Licence (CRU/2022991 ). In order to give final effect to that decision paper, the CRU must make modifications to the Natural Gas Supply Licences. In accordance with section 16(16)(b)(ii)(II) of the Gas (Interim)(Regulation) Act 2002 and section 20(4b) of the Electricity Regulation Act 1999, please find herein the statutory notice regarding these modifications.
Any representations or objections with respect to the proposed modification, are to be made to retaillicences@cru.ie by 28 May 2025. If no representations or objections are received by this date, or if any representations or objections made are withdrawn, the proposed modifications will come into immediate effect.
NOTE: A copy of this notice has been issued to gas supply licence holders. If you are a licence holder and you have not received a copy of this notice by post or otherwise, please contact retaillicences@cru.ie.
