Requirements

* Have a university degree or diploma (QQ1 level 8 equivalent) obtained with 1st or 2nd class honours in which Psychology was taken as a major subject and honours obtained in that subject.
* Have an Irish post‑graduate professional psychology qualification accredited by the Psychological Society of Ireland in Clinical, Counselling or Educational Psychology, OR an equivalent qualification from another jurisdiction validated by the Department of Health.
* Demonstrate competence in the Care Group/s applied for.


Duties & Responsibilities

* Provide psychological assessments individually and as part of a team to children with, or at risk of, complex needs and complete appropriate reports.
* Design appropriate interventions for children with behaviours of concern in response to child and family needs and goals, and where indicated in collaboration with staff in mainstream or special education settings.
* Participate in the development of Individual Family Service Plans (IFSPs).
* Undertake relevant psychological interventions/therapies in relation to children with complex needs.
* Support parents and family members through the provision of counselling, advice and guidance as required.
* Provide family support in the implementation of programmes in the home.
* Establish and maintain working relationships with professional colleagues from other disciplines in the interdisciplinary team.
* Maintain good relationships with other statutory and non‑statutory agencies.
* Participate in the organisation and development of psychological services of the Children’s Disability Network Team.
* Adhere to St. Joseph's Foundation's and National and local Progressing Disability Services policies.
* Lead and/or participate in research programmes relevant to Disability Services.
* Keep up to date with current research, innovative approaches and recommended clinical practice in the areas of Children’s Disability.
* Aim for the highest possible professional ethics and expertise.
* Be responsible for the co‑ordination and delivery of service to their allocated caseload.
