Promote residents choice and protect their dignity and maintaining strict confidentiality.
Assist residents daily with all activities of daily living including but not limited to: washing, dressing and undressing, ensuring the highest standards of hygiene/personal care are maintained. (Particular attention to detail, hair, teeth, fingernails, clothing etc is expected). Participate in the basic nursing care of the residents under the supervision of Nursing staff e.g. pressure area, mouth care and eye care. Assist residents with their toileting needs, promoting continence on a daily basis. Encourage residents to maximise their independence, physical wellbeing and comfort. Assist residents with mobility where appropriate and ensure correct aids and manual handling techniques are used at all times. Provide assistance for residents who are unable to feed themselves, maintaining their dignity. Ensure that each resident receives the meal or diet that he/she has requested and is suitable for his/her needs. Change beds, tidy resident's room and carry out cleaning duties as required. Empty toileting aids, where necessary and ensure infection control guidelines are strictly adhered to.
Report any accident or untoward incident which may occur to a resident or a member of staff immediately to the Nurse on Duty and any changes in residents' condition, and assist in the completion of accident/incident report forms where necessary.
Assist the Nursing Team with the admission and discharge of residents, including listing of resident's property/clothing as required and directed by the Nurse on duty.
Maintain a safe environment for staff, residents and visitors, through an awareness and application of health and safety policies.
Attend / complete appropriate training programmes / courses as required, or as deemed necessary by management, in a timely manner, to further your existing knowledge.
