Galway. We also have an in-house sheet metal fabrication department servicing a range of customers. We specialise in delivering high-quality, bespoke vehicle solutions for fire and rescue, public sector, and specialist applications. As we continue to expand, we are seeking a Design Engineer to lead our design and engineering functions. Role Overview Were seeking a Design Engineer to join our technical team. Youll play a key role in the design and development of bespoke vehicle builds and sheet metal production parts, ensuring our solutions meet customer requirements, manufacturing capabilities, and compliance standards. You will work closely with production, purchasing, and project teams to deliver accurate 3D models, engineering drawings, and design documentation to support efficient manufacture and assembly. Key Responsibilities Develop detailed 3D CAD models and 2D manufacturing drawings for vehicle components, subframes, and bodywork. Support concept design, prototyping, and engineering change processes. Work with production teams to resolve design or assembly issues on the shop floor. Conduct design reviews and ensure builds meet regulatory, safety, and weight requirements. Liaise with suppliers to specify materials, bought-in components, and manufacturing tolerances. Maintain design documentation and drawing standards. Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives across design and manufacturing. Participate in project cost reviews, timeline planning, and quality assurance reviews with senior management. Qualifications & Experience Degree in Mechanical Engineering, Automotive Engineering, Product Design, or a related discipline. Minimum 2+ years experience in a design or manufacturing engineering role, ideally within automotive, fabrication, or heavy vehicle sectors. Strong proficiency in CAD (SolidWorks, AutoCAD, or similar). Understanding of vehicle systems, sheet metal design, and structural fabrication an advantage. Experience with Lean manufacturing principles and design cost control. Excellent communication, problem-solving, and project management skills.
