Optometrist in Celbridge

Responsibilities
* Perform thorough eye examinations to assess vision and detect signs of injury, ocular disease, or abnormality.
* Provide accurate prescriptions for glasses and contact lenses tailored to individual needs.
* Conduct contact lens fittings, evaluations, and aftercare.
* Use specialist equipment such as retinoscopes, slit lamps, autorefractors, and OCT scanners.
* Identify and manage common eye conditions such as dry eye, cataracts, glaucoma, and diabetic retinopathy.
* Refer patients to ophthalmologists or GPs when necessary for further investigation or treatment.
* Maintain clear and accurate clinical records in line with CORU, GDPR, and clinic policy.
* Provide patients with clear advice on eye health, vision care, and preventative practices.
* Ensure the safe use and maintenance of optical instruments and clinical equipment.
* Collaborate with dispensing opticians and support staff to deliver exceptional customer care.
* Contribute to the smooth running of the practice, including occasional support in dispensing or advising on frame and lens selection.
* Participate in ongoing CPD (Continuing Professional Development) and maintain CORU registration.
* Stay current with clinical advancements and updates in optometry and vision care.
* Uphold all health & safety, infection control, and clinical governance standards.
Qualifications
* BSc (Hons) in Optometry or equivalent (validated by CORU).
* CORU-registered and in good standing (or eligible for registration if newly qualified or relocating).
* Strong clinical skills and knowledge of a wide range of eye conditions.
* Excellent communication and patient care skills.
* Attention to detail and commitment to high clinical standards.
* Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
* Prior experience in a clinical, retail, or community optometry setting (desirable but not always essential).
* Knowledge of GDPR, health and safety, and infection control practices.
