Healthcare Catering Assistant
Excel Recruitment are currently recruiting experienced and reliable Healthcare Catering Assistants to work in hospital and nursing home settings across Limerick. This role is ideal for candidates who are passionate about food service, patient care, and maintaining high hygiene standards in healthcare environments.
Key Responsibilities
1. Assist with the preparation, plating, and serving of meals to patients and residents
2. Ensure all dietary requirements and allergen guidelines are strictly followed
3. Deliver meals to wards or resident areas in a timely and courteous manner
4. Maintain cleanliness of kitchen, dining, and service areas
5. Wash dishes, utensils, and kitchen equipment as required
6. Adhere to HACCP, food safety, and infection control standards at all times
7. Work collaboratively with catering and healthcare staff
8. Provide a friendly, respectful service to patients, residents, and colleagues
Candidate Requirements
9. Previous experience in healthcare catering, hospital, or nursing home kitchens
10. Strong knowledge of food hygiene and HACCP standards
11. Reliable, punctual, and professional attitude
12. Ability to work in a fast-paced, regulated environment
13. Good communication and teamwork skills
14. Flexibility to work various shifts
15. Eligibility to work in Ireland
16. Garda Vetting (mandatory – must be completed prior to placement)
17. Willingness to undertake extensive mandatory training including food safety, infection control, manual handling, safeguarding, and healthcare-specific protocols
Desirable
18. Valid HACCP/Food Safety Certificate
19. Manual Handling Certificate
20. Experience working with special diets (e.g. diabetic, textured-modified diets)
