Ambitious Automation Specialist Wanted

About This Role

This role is an exciting opportunity for a highly motivated and skilled automation specialist to join our team. In this position, you will be responsible for designing, executing, and validating control systems for industrial automation equipment.


Key Responsibilities

* Fault Finding and Problem Solving: Utilize your excellent fault finding and problem solving skills to identify and resolve complex issues within the automation systems.
* System Design and Execution: Design and execute control systems from concept to debugging PLC programs.
* Installation and Validation: Install and validate new or upgraded equipment into operation, assisting the validation team as needed.
* Collaboration: Work closely with the digitalisation team on our factory of the future project, ensuring seamless integration and implementation.
* SOPs and Documentation: Maintain compliance with and ensure the accuracy of SOPs and technical documentation.
* Equipment Upgrades: Develop and execute upgrades on current equipment to improve functionality, output, and safety.
* Relationship Management: Establish and maintain relationships with technology providers and integrators.
* Test Equipment Design: Design test equipment and create validated test procedures for process testing to demonstrate compliance with internal and external requirements.
* Leadership: Lead design activities with internal and external contributors, ensuring effective communication and collaboration.
* Data Analysis: Analyze data from proof of concepts, leading to the development, implementation, and verification of approved solutions and technologies.
* Documentation Development: Develop detailed URS documents, engineering documents, and protocols.
* Vendor Reviews: Conduct detailed design reviews with external vendors on custom automation solutions.
* System Maintenance: Provide support to run and maintain automation systems in production, ensuring site backups and recovery procedures are in place.


Requirements

To succeed in this role, you will need:

* Education: A third-level degree (Level 8) in controls, electrical, electronic, engineering, or a related discipline, and desirable experience in a similar role.
* Experience: Over 6 years' experience in an automated environment with a proven track record of success.
* Skills: Knowledge of medical device processes, a good understanding of product and process design, experience with CAD packages beneficial, industrial automation design experience, knowledge of industrial automation/robotics, vision system experience, and ability to set up and execute experiments in a lab setting to close knowledge gaps.
