We are actively seeking to recruit a full-time Orthopaedic Nurse to work in the area of General Orthopaedic clinics. The aim of the Orthopaedic Nurse role is to ensure that the specialised skills and knowledge in Orthopaedic Nursing are utilised to facilitate the provision of a quality patient focused service for all patients attending the Mater Private Hospital in Cork.
He/she must ,as a role model, promote best practice in the delivery of nursing care and provide clinical expertise and support within the Multi-Disciplinary Team. Support, assist and facilitate colleagues in achieving specific Critical Success Factors as developed for the Department. Encourage a culture of openness and participation through effective communication.
Responsibilities
* To be competent in identifying and assessing potential orthopaedic/surgery candidates for pre-admission and post discharge and to facilitate post-acute discharge planning and referral.
* To act as a resource and contact person for orthopaedic patients attending other departments within the hospital or outside the hospital for treatment.
* Deliver patient education in the clinical area and for outpatients as required.
* To develop a process to record all Mater Private Cork Arthroplasty cases on the Irish National Orthopaedic register.
* To collaborate with the surgeon in the co-ordination of patient care.
* To co-ordinate and communicate patient information while maintaining confidentiality and privacy.
* To assist in the development and delivery of teaching and training programmes
Candidate Requirements
* Current NMBI Registration.
* H Dip in Orthopaedic Nursing (desirable)
* Minimum of 5 years post registration experience in orthopaedics
* Strong values and commitment to patient Safety & Quality
* Excellent interpersonal, organisational and communication skills
* Ability to work on their own initiative and to be self motivated.
