We are seeking a Senior Project Engineer – Water to deliver water infrastructure projects across Ireland, the UK, and internationally, focusing on utility clients.Key Duties And ResponsibilitiesManage and progress multiple projects from brief through feasibility, design, construction, and completion, ensuring delivery on schedule, budget, and quality standards.Preparation of Feasibility Studies, Route and Site Selections, and Concept Design Reports.Preparation of Outline and Detailed Designs including drawings, calculations, and technical reports.Prepare Technical Specifications and Contract Documents for main works and investigation contracts.Undertake and lead Tender Evaluation and Procurement processes.Preparation of all documentation required for statutory approvals, including planning permissions, land acquisition, and wayleaves.Construction stage contract administration, including site inspections and compliance monitoring.Develop detailed project plans, including budgets, schedules, and resource allocation.Coordinate project resources, finances, and client relationships in consultation with Project Directors.Take ownership of technical and contractual matters on assigned projects, ensuring compliance with standards and contracts.Represent the firm on technical matters in meetings and correspondence, in consultation with Project Directors.Prepare, review, and approve technical reports, designs, calculations, drawings, and specifications.Monitor and control project costs, including tracking expenses and managing change orders.Identify and mitigate project risks and implement effective risk management strategies.Delegate tasks to junior engineers, review their work, and provide technical guidance to ensure quality and development.Coordinate work across multidisciplinary teams, including environmental, planning, and other technical disciplines.Maintain regular communication on project progress, risks, and issues internally and with clients.Perform site visits and inspections to monitor progress, quality, and adherence to specifications.Lead by example in delivering project objectives while mentoring and developing junior staff.Undertake additional duties as required to support project delivery and reflect the evolving needs of the business.Key RequirementsBachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering, Environmental Engineering or a related discipline.7+ years’ experience in water engineering, including feasibility studies, detailed design, procurement, and construction contract administration.Proven experience in the design and delivery of water infrastructure projects such as treatment plants, pumping stations, pipelines, and water networks.Experience working with Uisce Éireann and/or water utility companies in the UK and Ireland is desirable.Strong technical knowledge of water engineering principles, standards, regulations, and industry best practice.Strong organisational and time-management skills, with the ability to manage competing priorities and meet project milestones.Clear written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to represent the company in client-facing environments.Experience in mentoring junior engineers and contributing to team development.Full clean driving licence essential, with flexibility to travel regularly to project sites as required.Ability to work effectively within multidisciplinary teams and contribute to integrated project delivery.
