We are headquartered in Dublin, CA, and offer a flexible hybrid work environment that blends in-office collaboration with the freedom of remote work.We are seeking a seasoned Data Scientist to join our team and lead initiatives in predictive modeling, personalization, and AI-driven financial recommendations. This individual will play a key role in building models that power personalized marketing, loan offers, credit improvement strategies, and next-best-action recommendations.The role requires expertise in data analysis to uncover business opportunities, traditional machine learning methods (tree-based models, neural networks) and emerging techniques, including Large Models (LLMs). You will collaborate closely with engineering to deploy models into scalable, low-latency production environments, as well as work with business and product stakeholders to generate ad-hoc analytics and actionable insights.ResponsibilitiesPerform exploratory and statistical data analysis to identify opportunities for model development and business optimizationDesign, build, and optimize machine learning models for:Marketing propensity modelingPersonalized loan offers and recommendationsNext-best-action predictions for improving credit scoresPrototype solutions using advanced AI techniques to accelerate experimentationPartner with engineering teams to productionize models in a scalable and latency-conscious environmentQuery and analyze large datasets to uncover business insights and support decision-makingCollaborate with business and product stakeholders to define problems, scope analyses, and deliver ad-hoc reports and dashboardsDevelop reusable frameworks, pipelines, and tools to accelerate model development and deploymentDocument methodologies, models, and assumptions to ensure clarity, reproducibility, and knowledge sharingFollow ethical AI principles and established guardrails to ensure fairness, transparency, and unbiased predictionsExperienceMasters or PhD in Computer Science, Statistics, Data Science, or related field (or equivalent experience)6+ years of professional experience in data science or machine learning, ideally in fintech, financial services, or a B2B2C environmentStrong proficiency in SQL and Python (pandas, scikit-learn, PyTorch, TensorFlow, XGBoost, etc.)Hands-on experience with tree-based models (XGBoost, LightGBM, CatBoost) and neural networksProficiency in notebooks (Jupyter, Colab, etc.) and deep learning frameworks such as TensorFlow and PyTorch for model developmentFamiliarity with LLMs and generative AI frameworks (HuggingFace, LangChain, OpenAI APIs, etc.)Experience deploying machine learning models into production environments with considerations for scalability and latencyStrong business acumen with the ability to translate complex analytical outputs into actionable recommendationsExcellent communication skills to collaborate with both technical and non-technical stakeholdersExperienceExperience with cloud-based platforms (AWS, GCP, or Azure) for model training and deploymentKnowledge of MLOps tools and practices (MLflow, Airflow, Kubeflow, Docker, etc.)Understanding of credit risk modeling, financial products, or consumer lendingExperience working with APIs, real-time scoring, and event-driven architecturesWhy Join Us?High Impact: Your models will directly shape how people access loans, improve credit scores, and receive personalized financial recommendationsInnovation-First Culture: From tree-based models to neural networks and LLMs, youll have the freedom to prototype with state-of-the-art techniques and put them in actionCross-Functional Collaboration: Work closely with product, engineering, and business leaders to take ideas from prototype to productionMission-Driven: Help democratize financial wellness and unlock opportunities for millionsBase SalaryThe annual base salary for this position is between $160,000 to $185,000 depending upon experience.BenefitsAnnual Bonus potentialEquity compensation packageFlexible Time Off Policy (Take time as you need it)401(k) with Employer contributionMedical, Dental, Vision 100% premium paid for employeeOpportunity for career growth and challengeBeautiful California East Bay offices in Dublin, CASavvyMoney’s EEO StatementSavvyMoney relies on of culture and thought to deliver on our goal of Creative People, Practical solutions serving our client needs, and ensures nondiscrimination in all programs and activities.
