Warehouse Duty Manager Reports to our Warehouse Manager of our Galway Warehouses Operational Leadership Oversee all core warehouse functions including goods-in, put-away, replenishment, picking, order assembly, consolidation, packing, and dispatch.
Plan and manage workload to meet daily schedules, Ensure accurate, timely booking of inbound loads from suppliers and international shipments.
Manage warehouse layout to optimise Maintain high standards of housekeeping, racking safety, and equipment condition.
Any other duties may be reasonably requested by Management.
People Management Lead and develop a team of warehouse operatives, forklift drivers, goods-in staff, and supervisors.
Manage labour planning, time attendance.
Provide coaching, performance reviews, and ongoing training Foster a culture of safety, teamwork, accountability, and continuous improvement.
Enhance the existing warehouse culture to further the organisational ambitions of being a great place to work.
Facilitate both functional and cross functional governance to ensure operational and office-based colleagues are appropriately aligned and connected, enabling strong collaboration.
Health Safety Ensure full compliance with safety policies and national legislation.
Oversee safe operation of all materials handling equipment (MHE).
Conduct regular safety walks, risk assessments, toolbox talks, and incident investigations.
Conduct regular housekeeping compliance audits.
Collaborate with Health Safety team to ensure best practice is maintained.
Maintain strict adherence to manual handling procedures.
Stock Management Maintain high stock accuracy through cycle counting, location audits, and proactive discrepancy investigation.
Support annual and periodic stocktakes across the Warehouses.
Service Delivery Performance Coordinate closely with Transport (internal fleet and external carriers) to guarantee efficient routing, loading accuracy, and issue resolution.
Rapidly resolve order fulfilment or picking issues raised by stores, sales teams, or customer service teams.
Systems Process Improvement Ensure effective use of ERP/WMS systems to drive accuracy and productivity.
Support systems development, process standardisation, and best-practice implementation across our warehouses.
Develop and maintain KPIs, dashboards, and daily/weekly reporting (e.g., pick accuracy, productivity, goods-in processing times).
Identify continuous improvement opportunities to reduce cost and increase throughput and service levels.
Skills Experience Required Essential Proven experience managing a warehouse or distribution centre, ideally within a multi- branch retail environment.
Strong leadership capability with experience managing diverse warehouse teams.
Strong H S awareness and practical knowledge of warehouse compliance obligations.
Good working knowledge of WMS/ERP systems and Microsoft Excel.
