Applications are invited from suitably qualified candidates for full-time postdoctoral research positions within the School of Computer Science at the University of Galway, Ireland. These positions are initially offered on a fixed-term 24-month contract, funded by the European Chips Joint Undertaking (formerly KDT) and Enterprise Ireland, available until 31 August 2027.
Successful candidates will join an experienced team working within the Athena consortium, focusing on developing advanced thermal IR imaging technologies for high-resolution, small-pitch imagers for applications including automotive in-cabin monitoring, consumer electronics, environmental sensing, and security. The project emphasizes integration on advanced CMOS nodes (<65 nm) for cost-effective mass-market LWIR sensors.
The primary focus of this position is on delivering novel algorithms and deep neural network architectures for in-cabin monitoring and consumer applications, especially driver health and psychophysiological state estimation, utilizing thermal infrared and other modalities like time event, NIR, and millimeter wave technologies.
Salary: The salary range is from €45,846 to €58,481 per annum, based on points 1-10 on the Postdoctoral Researcher salary scale, subject to funding and experience. The default starting point is the first point, with potential for higher placement based on prior experience.
