The Company
Our client is a leading global health company dedicated to advancing care through innovative medicines, vaccines, and diagnostic products. The site specialises in the production of Active Pharmaceutical Ingredients (APIs). Due to an expansion, they are seeking to take on a highly skilled Automation Project Manager to assist with their automation strategy.
The Position
This is a 12-month contract role for an Automation Project Manager to lead the design, implementation, and delivery of a critical control system upgrade at the Rathdrum site. The position operates in a hybrid model (3 days on-site) and requires strong vendor and stakeholder management skills.
Team Structure
* Reports to: Program Manager
* Collaborates with: Associate Project Manager, Automation Engineers, E&I Team, Safety Engineers
* Manages: External vendors & contractors
Key Responsibilities:
* Lead the end-to-end project management of the control system upgrade, including design, commissioning, and validation.
* Oversee virtualization implementaion and Siemens PCS7 batch software upgrades.
* Manage external vendors & internal teams to ensure on-time, on-budget delivery.
* Ensure compliance with GMP, safety, and automation standards throughout the project.
* Coordinate with cross-functional teams (E&I, Automation, Safety) to align project goals.
* Provide technical oversight without hands-on automation work (focus on project leadership).
The Person
Qualifications & Experience Required:
* 15+ years of combined automation engineering & project management experience.
* Strong background in pharmaceutical automation (API experience preferred).
* Expertise in Siemens PCS7, batch software, and control system upgrades.
* Proven track record in vendor & contractor management.
* Experience with design, commissioning, and validation of automation systems.
* Ability to work in a hybrid model (3 days on-site in Rathdrum).
