Role Overview
We are seeking an experienced
IBM MQ Administrator / MQ Engineer
to manage and support enterprise messaging infrastructure in a
large-scale production environment
.
The ideal candidate will have strong expertise in
IBM MQ administration, troubleshooting, performance tuning, and high availability configurations
within Linux/Unix environments.
This role involves ensuring the
stability, security, and performance of messaging platforms
, while supporting event-driven architectures and collaborating with application teams.
Key Responsibilities
Install, configure, upgrade, and administer
IBM MQ queue managers
on
Linux/Unix environments
.
Configure and manage
queues, channels, listeners, clustering, and high availability setups
.
Implement and maintain
MQ security
, including
TLS, certificates, and CHLAUTH rules
.
Monitor and troubleshoot
channel failures, queue depth issues, and performance bottlenecks
.
Support
RDMQ (Replicated Data Queue Manager)
environments and ensure high availability.
Perform
capacity planning, disaster recovery (DR) testing, and automation of MQ platforms
.
Investigate and resolve
production incidents related to messaging systems and applications
.
Monitor IBM MQ performance and proactively resolve issues related to
message delivery and queue management
.
Work with infrastructure teams to support
event-driven platforms such as Kafka or Solace
.
Define and enforce
messaging platform standards, operational procedures, and best practices
.
Stay updated with
industry trends and middleware technologies
related to messaging platforms.
Required Skills
6–8+ years of experience in IBM MQ Administration
in distributed environments.
Strong experience with
MQ clustering, security configuration, and performance tuning
.
Hands-on experience working in
Linux/Unix environments
.
Experience with
scripting and automation
(Shell, Ansible, or Python).
Strong experience in
production troubleshooting and incident management
.
Experience supporting
large-scale messaging infrastructures
.
Familiarity with
monitoring tools for MQ performance monitoring
.
Excellent
problem-solving and troubleshooting skills
.
Nice to Have
Basic knowledge of
SQL
.
Experience with
CI/CD tools such as Jenkins
.
Experience with
event brokers or event-driven platforms
(Kafka, Solace, etc.).
