Purpose of the Role

The Chief I Clinical Measurement Physiologist in the GI Function Unit (GIFU) will support the work of the Chief II. The post holder will oversee the efficient running of the Gastro Intestinal Physiology (GI) Service at St. James Hospital under the direction of the Chief II GI Physiologist.

The responsibilities include planning and managing daily service operations and staff resources in the GIFU, conducting a full range of diagnostic tests and procedures, and ensuring compliance with departmental policies, professional standards, ethical guidelines, and health and safety regulations.

The post holder will facilitate student teaching and contribute to establishing a future vision for the department alongside the Chief II GI Physiologist and the Clinical Director of the GI Function Unit.

This role requires a strategic approach to service development, embracing continuous quality improvement and managing change to meet organizational objectives under the direction of the Chief II GI Physiologist. The Chief I will deputise for the Chief II in her absence.
