We are seeking a dedicated Safety Officer to take on key responsibilities in promoting a culture of health, safety, and compliance across all construction projects.
Key Responsibilities:
* Ensure that all activities are compliant with Irish H&S legislation, company policies, and client requirements by monitoring and maintaining records.
* Conduct regular site safety inspections, audits, and risk assessments to identify potential hazards and propose mitigation strategies.
* Deliver effective site inductions, toolbox talks, and safety training to staff and contractors to ensure they understand their roles and responsibilities and adhere to safe working practices.
* Investigate incidents, prepare comprehensive reports, and recommend corrective actions to prevent future occurrences and improve overall workplace safety.
* Collaborate with project managers to develop method statements and safe systems of work to minimize risks and ensure timely completion of projects.
* Maintain accurate and up-to-date safety records and documentation for regulatory audits and continuous improvement initiatives.
* Promote a proactive safety culture across all site operations by leading by example and fostering a collaborative environment where everyone takes ownership of their role in maintaining a safe workplace.
Requirements:
* A diploma or degree in Health & Safety or a related discipline is highly desirable.
* NEBOSH/IOSH or equivalent certification is essential as it demonstrates expertise in occupational health and safety principles and practices.
* Minimum 2-3 years' experience working on construction sites is preferred as it indicates an understanding of the industry's unique challenges and opportunities.
* Strong communication and leadership skills are necessary to effectively engage with colleagues, contractors, and clients and promote a positive safety culture.
