Occupational Therapist – Paediatrics
Medforce are working closely with a Primary care community in Drogheda to recruit an Occupational Therapist to provide high-quality, child- and family-centred occupational therapy services within a multidisciplinary Primary Care team to children aged 0–18 years presenting with developmental, sensory, motor, and/or functional difficulties.
Responsibilities of Occupational Therapist – Paediatrics
* Deliver occupational therapy services to children referred through the Primary Care pathway, in line with best practice and national standards.
* Undertake individualised assessments, goal setting, and interventions using evidence-based approaches (e.g., sensory integration, developmental frameworks).
* Work in collaboration with families, carers, schools, and multidisciplinary teams including Speech & Language Therapists, Physiotherapists, Public Health Nurses, GPs, and others.
* Provide home, clinic, and community-based interventions as required.
* Maintain accurate and up-to-date clinical records in accordance with HSE policies.
* Participate in clinical audits, quality improvement initiatives, and service evaluation.
* Contribute to the development and delivery of group programmes and parent education workshops.
* Engage in regular supervision, CPD, and clinical governance activities.
* Promote child safeguarding and uphold confidentiality in line with HSE and national guidelines.
Requirements of Occupational Therapist – Paediatrics
* A recognised qualification in Occupational Therapy (e.g., BSc/MSc from CORU-approved programme).
* CORU registration with the Occupational Therapists Registration Board at CORU.
* Demonstrated experience in paediatric occupational therapy, ideally within a community or primary care setting would be desirable but not essential
* Knowledge of child development, family-centred care, and relevant legislation (e.g., Disability Act 2005, Children First).
* Experience with interdisciplinary working is desirable.
