About the Position
There is an immediate requirement for a talented senior Python developer to join their team. We are seeking an experienced Senior Python Engineer with a strong enterprise background to join a high-performing technology team. This role requires hands‑on expertise across scalable application development, containerised deployments, distributed data platforms, and real‑time streaming architectures.
The successful candidate will thrive in a collaborative, agile environment and demonstrate both technical depth and proactive ownership of deliverables.
Key Responsibilities
Design, develop, and maintain scalable Python-based applications within an enterprise environment
Deploy and manage applications using OpenShift
Build and maintain real‑time streaming pipelines using Apache Kafka
Conduct thorough code reviews and adhere to Git-based development workflows
Develop and optimise distributed SQL queries using Starburst/Trino
Implement caching and high-performance data operations using Redis
Integrate with object storage solutions (e.g., S3-compatible platforms)
Collaborate within agile teams using JIRA for project tracking and workflow management
Identify opportunities for improvement and contribute solutions that enhance team performance
Take ownership of deliverables from design through to deployment
Requirements
7–8+ years’ experience in software development within enterprise-scale environments
Strong Python programming skills with experience building and maintaining scalable systems
Hands‑on experience with OpenShift deployments
Working knowledge of Apache Kafka (producers, consumers, real‑time streaming pipelines)
Strong SQL skills (querying, data analysis, performance optimisation)
Experience with Starburst/Trino for distributed SQL processing
Familiarity with S3-compatible storage solutions
Hands‑on experience with Redis for caching and high-performance data access
Proficiency in Git-based workflows and conducting structured code reviews
Experience working in Agile environments with JIRA
