The role focuses on administering and optimising the organisation's Oracle database, automating ETL routines and reporting, enhancing data quality, security, and integration, supporting open-source tools and platforms, developing APIs and BI dashboards, and contributing to the creation of a data warehouse/lake.Role & Responsibilities:Administer and optimise Oracle database including replication, backup, security, tuning, and data cleansingAutomate ETL routines and reporting processesDevelop APIs and BI dashboards for data visualisation and integrationSupport open-source tools such as Metabase, QGIS, and platforms including AWS and AzurePerform database installation, configuration, upgrades, and patching (OPatch, DBUA)Implement backup and recovery strategies using RMAN and manage high availability via Oracle Data GuardConduct performance tuning using EXPLAIN PLAN, SQL Trace, TKPROF, AWR/ASH, and use Oracle Enterprise ManagerManage security functions including user roles, auditing, encryption (TDE), and compliance with regulations like GDPR and HIPAAAutomate routine tasks with shell scripting and PL/SQL, and support capacity planning and forecastingIntegrate databases with applications through OCI, JDBC, ODBC, and support ETL tools like Oracle Data IntegratorManage cloud and hybrid environments including Oracle Cloud Infrastructure, Autonomous DBs, and Exadata Cloud ServiceUse version control and CI/CD tools (Git, Jenkins) for database code deployment pipelinesSkills, Qualifications & ExperienceExpert knowledge of Oracle RDBMS (versions 11g, 12c, 19c, 21c), including architecture, PL/SQL development, and data modellingStrong experience with backup/recovery, high availability solutions, and performance tuning methodologiesProficiency with cloud database environments and tools such as RMAN, OEM, Data Pump, APEX, and automation scripting (Bash, Python, PowerShell)Experience:Minimum 7 years as a Senior Database Administrator working with Oracle databases in Linux/Unix/Windows environmentsHands-on experience in database lifecycle management: installation, upgrades, patching, and performance optimisationExperience supporting BI tools and platforms including Metabase, Power BI, AWS, Azure, and open-source GIS toolsEducation & Certifications:Relevant degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or related fieldOracle Database Administration certifications preferred (e.g., OCP)Visa:Irish/EU Citizen or Stamp 4 Visa holderAbout UsAs Ireland's largest IT Solutions Provider with a growing global footprint, ergo offers deep expertise across managed IT & hardware services, cloud, applications & software services, IT resourcing, and modern work solutions.
