Abbott Ireland Nutrition Division Cootehill Cavan
Abbott Nutrition produces a range of infant formulae under the brand name “Similac”. The facility also manufactures follow-on formulae under the brand “Gain”. The product is made from liquid skim milk, carbohydrate, vegetable oils, vitamins, and minerals, then blended, pasteurized, dried, and packaged for distribution globally.
Established in 1975, Abbott Nutrition in Ireland is the largest infant formula powder manufacturing facility in Abbott worldwide. It sources milk from approximately 1,000 Irish and Northern Irish dairy farms, processing 500,000 liters daily, highlighting Ireland’s strategic importance for Abbott Nutrition.
Hours of work:
Friday 2am to 8am, Saturday to Sunday 8pm - 8am.
Primary Objectives:
* Complete production paperwork including work order documentation.
* Review and sign off batch files.
* Maintain and develop the MCS system for product flow and inventory management.
* Implement and monitor the plant CAPA system, investigate ERs, track corrective actions, and support statistical sampling.
* Prepare for audits and ensure compliance with quality standards.
* Monitor KPIs such as documentation errors, ERs, and BRFT.
* Support Business Excellence projects and CIP targets.
* Monitor performance against plans, take corrective actions, and support validation activities.
* Participate in production and cross-functional teams, support material management, and maintain records.
* Ensure compliance with cGMP, safety, and hygiene standards through audits and walkabouts.
* Support employee training and development, manage workload scheduling in the absence of the Shift Manager.
* Ensure continuous production of high-quality infant formula, maintain good employee relations, and facilitate communication across departments.
Education and Experience Required:
Third-level qualification in Dairy/Food Science, Business, Engineering, or related field, with at least 2 years of relevant experience in Dairy Food or Pharmaceutical industries. Experience in manufacturing environment and ability to schedule production are essential.
