European Bank for Reconstruction & Development About the Role We are seeking an experienced Emerging Markets FI Credit Risk Specialist (Principal Risk Officer) to join our dynamic Country and FI Credit Risk Management Team. In this role, you will be responsible for independently analysing and appraising risks associated with financial institution debt transactions within the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development's (EBRD) portfolio. Your expertise in risk analysis and mitigation strategies will be essential in supporting the Bank's mission to foster sustainable economic development. Key Responsibilities - Conduct comprehensive risk analysis for new and existing Financial Institutions (FI) debt transactions. - Identify and execute due diligence, propose risk mitigation measures, and recommend optimal transaction structures, including security, covenants, and pricing. - Review portfolio trends and provide strategic insights for bottom-up stress testing and broader risk management decisions. - Set counterparty limits, approve transactions under delegated authority, and assign appropriate credit ratings. - Monitor financial institution counterparties, markets, and macroeconomic developments to assess risk exposure and to assign Probability of Default ratings to such counterparties. - Lead and contribute to periodic country and FI sector portfolio reviews. - Provide coaching and supervision to junior team members, including Associate Risk Officers and Analysts. - Participate in and contribute to key committees, including the Operations Committee and Risk Committee. Qualifications & Experience - Advanced degree in finance, business, economics, or a related field. - Substantial experience in analysing financial institutions and emerging markets. - Knowledge of emerging markets, particularly within CIS, and SEMED (MENA) regions. - Strong financial modelling and financial statement analysis skills. - Expertise in risk management, credit structuring, and regulatory compliance. - Proven ability to make authoritative recommendations in high-risk environments. - Strong communication skills with the ability to influence and challenge stakeholders.
