Production Planner (Fixed Term Contract to end of 2026)
Role Overview
Our client, a global industry leader in climate control and air-treatment solutions is seeking a Production planner for a Fixed Term Contract to end of 2026.
This organisation has a strong operational base in Cork. It designs and delivers advanced technologies that manage air quality in mission-critical environments. Supporting sectors such as data centres, food production, pharmaceuticals, manufacturing and agriculture, the business is recognised for engineering excellence, innovation and a strong focus on energy efficiency and sustainability.
The Production Planner is responsible for coordinating production plans and logistics activities to ensure customer demand is met efficiently, on time, and within capacity constraints. This role plays a key part in balancing production output, material availability, labour, and logistics to support revenue targets and operational performance.
Working closely with manufacturing, procurement, logistics, engineering, and warehouse teams, the Production Planner ensures schedules are achievable, data is accurate, and processes continuously improve.
Key Responsibilities:
Production Planning & Scheduling
* Develop and maintain detailed production schedules aligned with customer orders, forecasts, and manufacturing capacity.
* Assess material availability, labour requirements, and operational constraints to ensure realistic and efficient plans.
* Sequence and schedule production activities to support smooth material flow, optimal resource use, and on-time order completion.
* Maintain accurate production, inventory, and labour data within ERP systems to support planning and real-time visibility.
Logistics & Materials Coordination
* Coordinate inbound deliveries of raw materials and components in line with production requirements, working closely with procurement and suppliers.
* Plan outbound distribution of finished goods, including warehousing, packaging, and transportation, to meet customer delivery commitments.
* Liaise with warehouse and transport partners to improve storage, handling, and distribution efficiency while controlling costs.
* Ensure compliance with shipping, transport, and documentation requirements for all inbound and outbound movements.
Performance Management & Reporting
* Monitor and report on key performance indicators including on-time delivery, schedule adherence, and output versus revenue targets.
* Prepare regular performance updates for management, highlighting trends, risks, and improvement opportunities.
* Support corrective actions where production or logistics performance deviates from plan.
Continuous Improvement & Process Optimisation
* Analyse production and planning processes to identify bottlenecks, inefficiencies, and waste.
* Support and implement process improvements to reduce lead times, improve efficiency, and control manufacturing costs.
* Collaborate with operations and engineering teams to ensure process changes support quality, safety, and operational standards.
* Maintain a strong safety-first mindset and compliance with relevant industry and regulatory requirements.
Additional Responsibilities
* Undertake additional duties as required to support business needs during the contract period.
Skills, Experience & Qualifications
* Knowledge of industrial or commercial HVAC systems, components, and controls (air-cooled and water-cooled).
* Strong planning, organisational, and problem-solving capabilities.
* Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel and confidence working with ERP systems.
* Clear written and verbal technical communication skills.
* Understanding of logistics principles including transportation, warehousing, and inventory management.
* Experience tracking and reporting production and logistics KPIs.
