OverviewPrincipal Data Scientist - Dublin, Ireland. Optum is a global organization that delivers care aided by technology to help millions live healthier lives. This role involves leading pricing initiatives within the Network Pricing team, developing pricing models, managing a small team of data analysts, collaborating with stakeholders, and driving data-driven solutions to improve member experience and financial performance. The position is a full-time role with hybrid work options in Ireland.Primary ResponsibilitiesEngage with stakeholders at various levels to gather requirements, incorporate feedback, manage expectations, and ensure alignment with the organization’s financial goals.Manage a small team of data analysts and lead them to deliver high-quality deliverables.Design and develop pricing models for specific products or client segments; review model performance and communicate changes and impact to non-technical stakeholders.Break down model functionalities into detailed components; formulate technical and business requirements for deployment to production systems; work with engineering teams to deploy pricing models in production.Drive automation and streamline pricing processes by identifying gaps or inefficiencies; design solutions to enhance efficiency and accuracy.Identify opportunities for multi-dimensional pricing considering factors such as market relevance and regulatory alignment; support development and tracking of network performance KPIs to quantify impact.Collaborate with stakeholders to map procedures, gather feedback on pain points; design and implement automated solutions (scripts, dashboards, workflow tools) to reduce manual intervention, minimize errors, and accelerate pricing operations; develop clear documentation and provide training for end-users.Provide data-driven insights, critically analyze challenges, and test hypotheses to inform key business decisions.ScheduleFull-time position with standard working hours of Monday – Friday, 9am – 5pm. Careers with Optum offer flexible work arrangements; individuals in the Republic of Ireland may split monthly work hours between the Dublin office and a home-based office in a hybrid model.Required QualificationsUndergraduate degree in a numerical subject (e.g., Finance, Statistics, Mathematics, Economics) or equivalent experience.Extensive experience in business-focused analytical roles (e.g., finance, business analysis, data analytics).Extensive experience leading projects with multiple stakeholders and managing others.Intermediate SQL experience with querying large volumes of transactional data.Advanced proficiency in Python for data manipulation and analysis.Experience with visualization software such as Tableau and/or Power BI.Experience in MS Office, including proficiency with MS Excel.Preferred QualificationsExperience communicating and presenting complex technical concepts to non-technical audiences.Experience with Azure Databricks and the Azure ecosystem.Experience in industries such as Healthcare, Financial Services, Banking or Telco.Soft SkillsStrong communication skills; ability to work with stakeholders from multiple levels and disciplines.Note: You must currently be eligible to work in the country of application without any restrictions.
