Abbott Ireland Diabetes Care Division Donegal
The Abbott Diabetes Care division based in Donegal Town manufactures FreeStyle blood glucose test strips and FreeStyle Sensors for use in diabetes management. Among Abbott Diabetes Care leading brands are the FreeStyle Precision, FreeStyle Lite and FreeStyle Libre system.
Responsibilities;
* Plan, implement and lead complex Technical projects including validation activities and product/process improvements. Responsible for writing up/reviewing the results and conclusions accurately and on time.
* Lead validation planning activities
* Oversee the strip testing team ensuring test targets and compliance requirements are achieved
* Support the development and roll out of materials trials / characterization studies.
* Lead and participate in cross-functional problem-solving teams for troubleshooting, and complex scientific investigations.
* Seek opportunities for significant, process or product improvements; considering CQAs, critical process parameters, and product performance characteristics.
* Act as a materials expert, providing scientific support and knowledge. Applies specialized knowledge of product and process design.
* Recognize adverse trends and emerging issues. Propose and implement solutions to internal and external issues.
* Present complex technical information to internal and external groups. Share scientific information and expertise. Experience in mentoring and teaching others to facilitate timely resolution of product and process technical issues.
* Utilizes appropriate experimental, statistical and project management tools.
* Data management, trending (including SPC) and reporting of product performance and other business measures.
* Analysing data, evaluating results, forming conclusions & contributing to design, process or document improvements.
* Translates top-level goals to specific goals and aligns activities with respective strategic business priorities.
* Develop and maintain project timelines and provide updates and feedback to leadership.
* Ensures prompt attention of the Senior Technical Manager in areas of risk, which might have an adverse effect on product and/or safety.
Requirements:
* Minimum degree and preferably Masters in a science related discipline.
* 3 years' people management experience in a technical capacity in medical device or pharmaceutical industry is desirable.
* Self-motivated and significant project/validation experience with an ability to influence others are essential.
* Demonstrated ability to fully realize improvement initiatives.
* Demonstrated successes in a team environment, such as project teams, problem solving teams etc.
* Strong technical knowledge of design control process and experience of leading technology transfers.
* Advanced leadership skills in order to build an effective team by providing clear direction and defining priorities.
* Excellent communication / interpersonal skills.
* Good knowledge of statistical analysis software.
