We are currently partnering with a leading global biopharmaceutical organisation to hire a Snr. Associate Scientist to join their Technical Development & Services team in Shanbally.
This is an excellent opportunity for candidates with hands‑on downstream processing and protein purification experience who are looking to work within a highly technical and collaborative biologics environment.
About the Role
The successful candidate will provide scientific expertise across small-scale protein purification techniques supporting process development, troubleshooting manufacturing issues, continuous improvement initiatives, and technical investigations.
You will work closely with cross‑functional scientific teams across Process Development, Manufacturing, Quality, and Analytical Services while contributing to high‑impact laboratory and process improvement projects.
Key Responsibilities
Design and deliver scientific studies and technical projects
Support root cause investigations and troubleshooting activities
Perform small‑scale protein purification experiments using AKTA systems, TFF, filtration, and chromatography techniques
Support process development and resin screening activities
Author protocols, SOPs, risk assessments, and technical reports
Maintain high laboratory, GLP, and GMP standards
Collaborate with internal SMEs and cross‑functional stakeholders
Contribute to operational excellence and continuous improvement initiatives
Requirements
Degree qualification in Biochemistry, Biotechnology, Process Engineering, or related scientific discipline
Experience with downstream processing and protein purification techniques
Hands‑on experience with AKTA systems, chromatography, TFF, and filtration
Strong scientific troubleshooting and analytical skills
Ability to work independently and collaboratively within technical teams
Understanding of GMP/GLP laboratory environments
Nice to Have
Biologics or commercial manufacturing experience
Analytical science background
Knowledge of cGMP manufacturing processes and ICH guidelines
Experience supporting process optimisation or manufacturing investigations
This opportunity is an 12-month contract, on‑site in Shanbally, Cork, Ireland paying €51,840 per annum (pro rata).
