Engineering SurveyorIs a responsible and authorised secondary member of the survey teams working under the governance of the Survey Manager & Senior Surveyor &/or a client Survey Manager. The Engineering Surveyor can assist the Senior Surveyor & Survey Manager by carrying out site setout & conformance.Main Duties / ResponsibilitiesThe Engineering Surveyor is responsible to carry out engineering and railway surveying works on behalf of a client under the governance and systems developed by the Survey Manager & with the support of the Senior Surveyor where necessary.Overall Duties / activities:Adhere to project survey management plansManage & mentor trainee surveyorsProvide the survey manager with reports to contribute to monthly survey cost/budgetsEffective negotiation and management of sub-contractorsLimited but effective communication with client and stakeholdersProvide reports or data to assist the survey manager in tendering opportunitiesEnsure engineering services for projects are delivered as per the client's requirementsEstablishing tertiary/secondary control points for a projects survey control network & maintain Survey Control NetworksUndertaking all nature of survey to meet contractual & quality assurance obligationsStorage & maintenance of all survey equipmentReporting any equipment faults to the Survey ManagerAssisting in the preparation of calculations for quantitiesBasic site required problem solvingAssist in providing project paperwork including, reductions, data, drawings, site folders etc to the Survey Manager or Senior SurveyorSubmit basic project reporting to the Survey Manager as per the reporting scheduleImmediately escalati and clearly communicate project delays and/or unforeseen project risks to the Survey Manager, as soon as identifiedEffective consultation and communication with team membersMaintain competent TAO proficiency level on TAO disciplines as requiredQualificationsCompetencies & Mandatory requirementsDegree or Diploma in surveying carried out at or approved by a recognised Australian surveying body.Safely Access the Rail Corridor (RISI/RIW Card)General Induction for Construction Work in NSW (OH&S/white card)Valid Unrestricted Driver's Licence or working towardsExperience/KnowledgeMinimum of Two (2) years' post-graduation surveying experienceDemonstrated experience working Tier 1, 2 and 3 TfNSW projects either autonomously or under the direct supervision of a Survey ManagerDemonstrated experience assisting in the delivery of projects for TFNSWAbility to identify site risks and suggest improvementDemonstrated experience operating at a similar level within the rail & engineering infrastructure industry, where no experience in TfNSW projects, must retain experiences within projects of a similar/next best natureDemonstrated ability to effectively communicate and build relationships with internal staff and subcontractorsAbility to read, understand plan sets & design drawingsAbility to carry out contract terms and legislation provisions under the Survey Managers directionsUnderstanding of relevant Rail Safety / WH&S and Environmental Protection Acts as applied to the Rail IndustryComply with the ISO 9001:2015 Std requirementsSkillsEntry level negotiating & management skillsAbility to train and mentor trainee surveyorsConsiderate written, and verbal communication skillsAllocated budget managementAssist in and working towards producing accurate and meaningful project reports, plans and desired CAD modelsAbility to use computer software including 12d / Excel Word & OutlookPreferred Requirements (not essential)Confined spaceFit test (dust mask)Working At HeightsElevated Work platformsBasic 12d & CAD coursesExperience/KnowledgeEntry level experience delivering TAO Engineering & Railway surveying
