The Legal Counsel provides practical, commercially focused legal support to the business across a range of general commercial and contractual matters. Working collaboratively across the Group (at IAG Group and Aer Lingus level), the role supports commercial contracting activity, supplier engagements and effective contract lifecycle management.
The Legal Counsel will also contribute to the ongoing improvement of legal ways of working, including the optimisation of legal processes and the use of legal technology and AI‑enabled tools to support efficiency, consistency and quality of legal service delivery.
The role will provide broad support within the Legal team and offers exposure to a wide range of commercial, regulatory and operational matters as part of a developing in‑house practice.
Responsibilities
Commercial Contracts & Procurement
Provide pragmatic legal advice on a portfolio of general commercial and corporate legal matters, including contract negotiation, commercial risk, procurement support and business initiatives.
Advise on and support commercial transactions and key projects as required, including drafting, negotiation, review and approval of a wide range of commercial agreements
Legal Advisory & Business Support
Provide timely, pragmatic legal advice to business stakeholders on commercial and operational matters, escalating complex or novel issues to Senior Legal Counsel as appropriate.
Regulatory & Compliance Support to Legal Team

Your Qualifications & Key Criteria
Irish or UK qualified solicitor or barrister with at least three years’ post qualification experience.
Background in commercial or corporate law gained in private practice and/or in‑house.
Experience drafting and negotiating commercial contracts.
Ability to deliver clear, practical legal advice to non‑legal stakeholders.
Commercially minded, collaborative and solutions‑focused.
Comfortable working in a fast‑paced in‑house environment.
Strong organisational and analytical skills, with the ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines.
Practical, solutions focused mindset with good commercial awareness.
Strong communication and stakeholder management skills.
High attention to detail, sound judgement and confidence in escalating issues appropriately.
Collaborative and credible working style.
Experience or familiarity with airline industry regulation, aircraft leasing arrangements or aviation‑specific commercial work an advantage but not a must‑have.
