Principal/Associate Ecologist – Dublin, Ireland
As part of Ramboll’s Environment and Health division, the Principal/Associate Ecologist will manage and deliver ecological components of infrastructure, commercial, residential, renewable energy and data centre projects.
Your key responsibilities
Manage ecology projects, providing input on large‑scale projects in collaboration with team leads.
Serve as the main contact with Ramboll project managers, clients, partners, sub‑consultants and regulatory authorities.
Plan and undertake ecological surveys, produce high‑quality reports (e.g., Preliminary Ecological Appraisals, species surveys).
Design and deliver ecological mitigation.
Prepare fee proposals and support client relationships.
Supervise and manage junior ecologists.
Plan and manage resources within a multi‑disciplinary consultancy environment.
Review reports, precautionary methods, and species licence applications.
Deliver projects on time, within budget.
Associate level additional responsibilities
Manage delivery and review of EIA chapters and NIS reports.
Deliver large, complex projects on time and within budget.
Engage in business development and client relationship management.
About you
Proficient in MS Word, Excel, Outlook (ArcGIS is a plus).
Experienced with digital data capture techniques in fieldwork.
Skilled in fieldwork and survey techniques following best practice guidance.
Strong written and verbal communication in English.
Able to produce clear, concise documentation.
Hold one or more protected species survey licences (ideally bats) and experience with development licences.
Good knowledge of environmental and ecological legislation.
Understanding of Irish and Northern Irish planning systems and ecology integration.
Full clean driving licence; flexible for unsociable survey hours and occasional travel.
Member of the Chartered Institute of Ecology and Environmental Management (CEnv or CEcol preferred).
