Overview of role:
The post holder is responsible for cleaning, disinfection, packing, and autoclaving of instruments using mechanical and manual methods to ensure high-quality service delivery.
Primary Duties and Responsibilities:
Key Responsibilities:
* Assist in various functions of the Central Decontamination Unit, including decontamination, inspection, assembly, packing, and sterilisation of medical devices and instruments.
* Operate autoclaves, washers/disinfectors, and other sterilisation equipment, ensuring proper functioning and recording parameters.
* Maintain records in line with departmental policies and legislation.
* Stock and store sterilised equipment appropriately.
* Adhere to infection prevention, health and safety policies, and PPE guidelines.
* Participate in quality assurance activities, including hygiene audits and equipment maintenance.
* Communicate effectively within the multidisciplinary team.
* Mentor new technicians and pursue ongoing training and development.

Qualifications & Experience:
No formal qualifications are required. Essential skills include initiative, attention to detail, excellent communication, physical ability to perform role demands, and a focus on patient safety. Personal motivation and flexibility are also important.
