We are now on the hunt for Junior Technical Director to work on various productions at the studio. We are looking for people who will join us in our quest to create the best possible animated content for our partners. The role is due to start 9th February 2026.
PLEASE NOTE: This role is based in our studio in Kilkenn y, Republic of Ireland, and there is NO option to work freelance outside of the Republic of Ireland.
About the role
The role of the Junior Technical Director is to assist and maintain the technical strategy for each production in collaboration with the director/assistant director, line producer, technical director, and the IT department.
What you'll be doing
* Work closely with the supervisors of the rigging, scene prep, compositing and rendering departments on specific technical requests for each show.
* Follow and help in the setting up of the technical production pipeline for each production and the implementation of each pipeline.
* Working with Senior TD, learn and help on all technical matters during the production and development of our productions.
* Assist the Technical department in researching ways of achieving creative goals within the constraints of both technical possibility and schedule.
* Work with the supervisors and line producers to understand technical bids and schedules and how best to refine them.
* Assist the Senior TD in identifying and prioritizing important technical problems and challenges for each production.
* Work with your direct supervisors, and IT to understand and assist in making plans for solving technical problems and overcoming challenges on on-going and future productions.
* Working with IT, act as a point of contact for production technical issues and cross-departmental workflow issues. Fixing as needed files or other minor problems.
* Utilize technical training and skills development in relation to the usability of technology.
* Learning from the Senior TD and pipeline team to progress your understanding of all technical matters within each department, including but not limited to Python and Java scripting to allow you to address technical challenges faced by crew, efficiencies, and ease of working.
Take responsibility, when needed, for the upload and download of partner files and in-house production deliveries.
The above is not exhaustive and from time to time you may be asked to carry out other tasks.
What we're looking for
* 1-2 years of experience in a technical role or similar role and responsibilities.
* Technical knowledge of Toon Boom Harmony software a strong advantage.
* Knowledge of other production software, Blender, Photoshop and Flow would be very helpful.
* Scripting knowledge is a plus.
Problem solving / troubleshooting skills.
