Key Responsibilities
Lead electrical sustaining engineering activities for released medical device hardware, driving continuous improvement and value engineering initiatives.
Oversee and deliver comprehensive engineering reports, including characterization studies, risk assessments, verification summaries, feasibility test reports, and technical evaluations.
Manage electrical, electronic, and mechanical design updates due to component obsolescence, supplier changes, or value engineering opportunities – ensuring complete documentation, validation, and communication.
Author, review, and coordinate Engineering Change Orders (ECOs) and associated technical justifications.
Identify and mitigate potential medical device hazards; lead updates to Risk Management documentation.
Design and approve test methods, engineering studies, and verification protocols.
Lead and execute feasibility testing, data analysis, and formal reporting.
Support qualification of new components, processes, and test methods to maintain compliance with internal quality standards and global regulations.
Ensure all design documentation adheres to FDA design controls, good documentation practices, and applicable regulatory standards.
Oversee product safety testing and maintain compliance with relevant electrical, mechanical, and medical device standards.
Lead investigations for corrective and preventative actions using structured problem‑solving methodologies.
Qualifications
Bachelor’s or master’s degree in Electrical, Mechanical, or Biomedical Engineering.
Minimum 3 years of electrical engineering experience in the medical device or aerospace sector.
Strong experience in PCB design, simulation, analysis, and evaluation for upgrades or obsolescence.
Knowledge of FDA Quality System Regulations, CE Marking, and related regulatory frameworks.
Strong ability to produce high‑quality engineering documentation within a regulated environment.
Experience in medical device sustaining engineering is advantageous.
Travel Requirements
Up to 25% domestic or international travel, depending on project needs.
