Automation Support Engineer – Manufacturing Systems
Location: Longford or Sligo, Ireland
Employment Type: Full-time
Travel: Approx. 10–15% to European manufacturing sites
We are seeking a motivated Automation Engineer with 1.5 to 2 years of experience to join a growing technical team supporting highly automated, high-volume production operations. This role provides hands-on experience across multiple facilities and exposure to a wide range of automation technologies in a regulated manufacturing environment.
Key Responsibilities:
* Support day-to-day automation operations across production lines (filling, capping, inspection, and packaging systems)
* Assist in programming, troubleshooting, and maintaining PLCs, robotics, and vision systems
* Collaborate with cross-functional teams in engineering, quality, and production to resolve automation issues
* Contribute to equipment upgrades, installations, and vendor coordination
* Help maintain compliance through technical documentation and validation support
* Share best practices and automation improvements across sites
Requirements:
* 18 to 24 months of hands-on experience in automation or controls engineering
* Working knowledge of PLCs (e.g., Siemens, Allen Bradley), robotics, or industrial vision systems (e.g., Cognex)
* Qualification in Automation, Robotics, Electrical Engineering, or a similar discipline
* Strong troubleshooting and communication skills
* Willingness to learn and develop in a high-performance, regulated setting
Desirable Experience:
* Exposure to regulated environments such as medical device or pharmaceutical manufacturing
* Familiarity with validation processes (FAT, SAT, IQ, OQ, PQ)
* Experience working with multi-site or international teams
