Operations Business Partner (Finance)
Location: Little Island, Cork
Salary: €65,000 - €70,000
Role Purpose
The Operations Business Partner (Finance) will play a critical role in bringing control, accuracy, and insight to the manufacturing cost base. Acting as a key bridge between Finance and Operations, this role ensures financial integrity in cost management while supporting operational decision-making through robust analysis and data governance.
Key Responsibilities
Costing & Financial Control
Own and manage the standard costing process across manufacturing operations.
Maintain and continuously improve product costing accuracy, ensuring alignment with actual production processes.
Ensure Bills of Materials (BOMs) and routings reflect real operational conditions, including accurate material, labour, and energy cost inputs.
Drive ongoing enhancements in costing methodologies and structures.
Performance Analysis & Reporting
Deliver monthly analysis of actual vs. standard performance, including:
Material usage and yield
Labour efficiency
Scrap and waste
Translate operational variances into clear financial impact and actionable insights.
Partner with Operations to identify cost‑saving opportunities and performance improvements.
Data Governance & Process Control
Maintain governance over key manufacturing master data, including:
Part numbers
BOMs
Routings
Work centres
Implement and manage structured change control processes to ensure data integrity and auditability.
Reduce reliance on manual workarounds through system and process optimisation.
Business Partnering
Act as a trusted partner to Operations, linking operational drivers to financial outcomes.
Support the budgeting and forecasting process with robust cost inputs and assumptions.
Develop and maintain capacity models to support production planning and strategic decisions.
Support scenario modelling and what‑if analysis to guide business decisions.
Systems & Continuous Improvement
Improve costing structures and reporting capabilities within SAP.
Identify and implement process improvements to enhance efficiency, reporting accuracy, and scalability.
Promote best practices in financial and operational integration.
Key Requirements
Experience & Skills
Strong experience in a finance role within a manufacturing environment.
Proven experience with standard costing, cost analysis, and variance reporting.
Experience working closely with operational teams in a business partnering capacity.
Strong analytical skills with the ability to interpret complex data and translate into business insights.
Advanced Excel and financial modelling capabilities.
Chartered Accountant PQE or Qualified or QBE (qualification in CIMA or CPA).
Systems
SAP experience is highly desirable.
Experience improving ERP‑based costing and reporting processes is an advantage.
