Position DescriptionThis Legal Executive role is within the Property, Planning & Environment and Employment Law practice area in ESB Legal providing high quality, professional legal assistance, and support to solicitors, as part of the Strategy, Innovation and Transformation (SIT) business unit.The successful candidate will join the Property, Planning & Environment and Employment Law (PPEEL) team reporting to a senior solicitor within the PPEEL Property Team and will be based in ESB Head Office, F27, Dublin, in line with ESB's Smart Working arrangements.Key ResponsibilitiesProperty Transactions Support: Assist Property Solicitors in managing acquisitions, disposals, leases, licenses, easements and options, including drafting deeds and correspondence, handling files with minimal supervisionRegistration of Land: Prepare and submit applications to Tailte Éireann for registration of land and rights acquired by ESB and its subsidiaries, managing registration queries raised by Tailte Eireann.Major Projects Assistance: Support solicitors in managing complex property transactions and infrastructure projects involving multiple landowners and title issuesEmployment Law Support: Assist Employment Law solicitors with case preparation, including briefing Counsel, handling Discovery and Data Access Requests, and lodging court documentsPlanning & Environment Law Support: Aid in preparing for Oral and Court Hearings, Judicial Reviews, and AIE submissions, including briefing Counsel and coordinating ESB's representationClient & Third-Party Liaison: Communicate directly with client contacts and external solicitors to obtain instructions, resolve queries, and support progress across legal mattersLegal Research & Reporting: Conduct legal research, maintain a judgments register, and assist in reporting file progress and project updates to Senior Management and clientsEssentialExperience and QualificationsLegal Qualification or Experience - Holds a legal qualification or demonstrates equivalent relevant experience in legal practiceTechnical Legal Knowledge - Understands property titles, conveyancing procedures, court preparation, and Counsel briefing requirementsDocument Drafting Skills - Capable of independently drafting standard conveyancing deeds using agreed templates and precedentsCase and Workload Management - Manages caseloads effectively, prioritising tasks and meeting deadlines with minimal supervision.Initiative and Teamwork - Self-motivated and able to work independently while contributing effectively within a team environmentCommunication and IT Proficiency - Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with competence in Microsoft Office and legal IT systemsESB Systems Knowledge - Familiar with ESB-specific systems such as FMIS, OTV, and SAPLocationThis position will be based in ESB Head Office, 27 Fitzwilliam Street Lower, Dublin 2.ESB is committed to smart working – combining digital tools with a culture of trust and empowerment to enable flexible ways of working.
