Job Specification: Practice Nurse Location: Main Street Clinic, 7 Lower Main Street, Lucan, Co.
Dublin Reports to: Practice Manager / Lead GP About Us Main Street Clinic has been providing high-quality, personal, and continuing medical care to patients in Lucan for over 30 years.
Services include acute illness care, womens health, travel and childhood vaccinations, minor surgery and more.
Purpose of Role The Practice Nurse will deliver nursing care to patients in the general practice setting.
This will include assisting with clinics, health promotion, immunisations, wound care, and supporting GPs/Nurse Prescribers to ensure efficient, safe, patient-centred services.
Key Responsibilities & Duties Provide nursing care in the Nurses Clinic: triage, assessments, wound care, dressings, suture removal, minor procedures.
Administer and manage immunisations (childhood, travel, flu, COVID, etc.).
Assist with womens health clinics: contraception, screening, sexual health, etc.
Respond to acute nursing requests (e.g. minor illness/first aid).
Collaborate with GP colleagues and Nurse Prescribers to manage patient care effectively.
Manage patient follow-up, recalls, chronic disease monitoring (if applicable).
Maintain accurate, up-to-date patient records in line with clinic policies.
Adhere to infection control, health & safety, and confidentiality procedures.
Educate and advise patients on health promotion and disease prevention (e.g. vaccinations, lifestyle, womens health).
Participate in clinic meetings, continuous professional development, audits as required.
Essential Qualifications & Experience Registered General Nurse (RGN) and registered with An Bord Altranis.
Experience working in general practice or community nursing, would be desirable.
Experience in immunisation programmes, would be desirable.
Strong clinical assessment and communication skills.
Good organisational skills; ability to prioritise.
Familiarity with electronic medical record keeping, would be advantageous.
Ability to work both independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team.
Desirable Skills & Attributes Previous experience or interest in womens health (contraception, menopause, etc.).
Ability to manage minor surgical procedures.
Fluent English; additional languages a plus.
Compassion, empathy, patient-centred attitude.
Working Conditions & Hours Hours are 3-5 days per week, and ***** to *****.
Rate of pay: (To be decided) competitive, commensurate with qualifications & experience.
