Controls & Automation Engineer
Location: Cork (Primarily on-site, with occasional travel)

A specialist provider of high-performance automation solutions for precision manufacturing environments is seeking a Controls & Automation Engineer to join its growing multidisciplinary engineering team. This is an excellent opportunity for a motivated engineer with 4–5 years of industry experience to take the next step in their automation career while contributing to the development of advanced, bespoke machinery used in regulated industries.
You’ll work across the full project lifecycle, from control system design to commissioning and support, collaborating with experienced colleagues across mechanical, electrical, and software disciplines.
Key Responsibilities
* Design and develop PLC and HMI software for automated equipment
* Assist in integrating control systems involving motion, robotics, vision, and pneumatic systems
* Participate in machine testing, commissioning, and on-site support
* Work with the engineering team to ensure solutions meet functional, safety, and compliance requirements
* Support the creation of documentation for validation and compliance (e.g., URS, FDS, FAT)
* Provide input on component specification and system design
Experience & Skills
* 4+ years of experience in an automation or machine control role
* Solid PLC programming experience (ideally with Allen-Bradley platforms)
* Exposure to automation systems involving robotics, motion control, or vision integration is beneficial
* Experience working on automation projects in regulated industries (medical, pharma, or food) is a plus
* Familiarity with machine development lifecycle, safety standards, and technical documentation
* Strong team player with a problem-solving mindset and a high attention to detail
Additional Requirements
* Strong communication skills and willingness to learn
* Organised, proactive, and quality-focused approach to engineering
* Valid driving licence and flexibility to travel occasionally (for installation/support work)
