Overview
An organisation operating in the social impact sector is seeking a People & Culture Lead with strong management experience to support the delivery of HR operations, employee engagement and workforce development initiatives.
Reporting to the Head of People & Culture, this role will play a key part in ensuring the effective day-to-day delivery of HR services across the organisation. The successful candidate will lead on operational HR activities, support continuous improvement initiatives, and contribute to the delivery of key people-related priorities.
This is a hands‑on leadership role, suited to someone who enjoys balancing operational delivery with team management and process improvement.
Key Responsibilities
HR Operations & Service Delivery
Support the delivery of HR services across the full employee lifecycle
Contribute to the improvement of HR processes, systems and workflows
Provide guidance and support to managers on HR policies and procedures
Assist in implementing quality and compliance practices
Recruitment, Onboarding & Workforce Planning
Support end-to-end recruitment processes in collaboration with hiring managers
Contribute to workforce planning and recruitment activity
Maintain effective onboarding and induction processes
Ensure recruitment aligns with approved headcount and budgets
Payroll, Benefits & Reward
Support payroll processes to ensure accuracy and compliance
Assist with the administration of employee benefits and vendor coordination
Contribute to salary benchmarking and reward‑related activities
Support compliance with pay‑related legislation
HR Systems & Data
Support the management and optimisation of HR systems
Maintain accurate employee data and reporting
Assist in preparing workforce metrics and management reports
Ensure compliance with GDPR and internal data standards
Support the delivery of employee engagement initiatives
Assist with employee surveys, recognition programmes and wellbeing initiatives
Contribute to internal communications and employee experience improvements
Work with managers to support engagement and retention
Learning & Development
Support learning and development initiatives in collaboration with relevant stakeholders
Contribute to meeting organisational training needs
Provide day‑to‑day leadership and support to the People & Culture team
Assist with workload coordination and team development
Promote a collaborative, service‑focused team environment
Requirements
Minimum 6–8 years’ HR experience, with strong operational exposure
Previous experience managing or supervising HR teams
Strong knowledge of employment law and HR best practice
Experience supporting the full employee lifecycle
Strong organisational and stakeholder management skills
Experience working with HR systems and data reporting
CIPD qualification or equivalent
Experience in the social impact / not‑for‑profit sector
Exposure to change or transformation initiatives
