Overview
We are seeking a Senior / Principal Civil Engineer to be based in our Galway office.
The successful candidate will work within a multidisciplinary civil engineering team on a variety of building and site development projects across educational, residential, healthcare, industrial, commercial and energy sectors.
Your role
Act as the Lead Civil Engineer within multidisciplinary design teams.
Provide design input and oversight of all civil aspects, with a focus on drainage and watermain design and basic road design principles.
Prepare project reports (Planning, Tender, Construction) communicating complex technical matters clearly.
Deliver design intent through PowerPoint presentations.
Prepare fee proposals and site-specific quality response submissions for public sector design contracts.
Communicate effectively with internal and external parties via email.
Oversee preparation of design drawings for planning, tender, and construction purposes.
Prepare design calculations for internal and external review.
Perform Ancillary Certifier duties for civil engineering on building projects (external works, drainage, watermain, etc).
Manage design budgets.
Supervise and mentor junior civil engineers who report to you.
Balance personal workload with that of the small engineering team.
Qualifications
Chartered Engineer with Engineers Ireland or equivalent (overseas charterships considered).
Strong communication and interpersonal skills with ability to prioritize and manage workload.
Experience delivering drainage design (causeway or micro-drainage).
Proficiency with MS Office Suite.
Experience using Autotrack software.
Previous role as Lead Project Civil Engineer on multidisciplinary projects.
