As a cook in our childcare facility, you will play a vital role in supporting children's health and development by preparing nutritious meals and snacks in a safe and welcoming environment.
You will ensure that food served meets nutritional standards, accommodates special dietary needs, and is prepared in a clean, organised, and efficient kitchen.
Essential Criteria:
English Language Proficiency: Minimum B1 level on the CEFR (B2 preferred) to ensure clear understanding of food safety instructions, allergy requirements, and effective communication with staff.
Food Safety Certification: Valid HACCP Certificate or equivalent food hygiene qualification.
Experience: Demonstrated experience in food preparation and cooking, ideally in a childcare, school, healthcare, or similar setting.
Food Safety Knowledge: Strong understanding of food handling, storage, and sanitation regulations.
Key Responsibilities:
Meal Preparation & Service
Plan, prepare, and serve breakfast, lunch, and snacks according to approved menus and childcare nutrition guidelines.
Accommodate allergies, cultural preferences, and individual dietary needs as required.
Ensure meals are portioned appropriately for different age groups.
Food Safety & Sanitation
Follow all food handling, hygiene, and sanitation regulations.
Maintain a clean and organised kitchen, storage, and food preparation areas.
Record food temperatures and safety checks as required for compliance.
Menu Planning & Inventory
Assist in developing balanced menus that meet nutritional standards.
Order, receive, and properly store food and supplies.
Manage inventory effectively to minimize waste and control costs.
Collaboration & Communication
Coordinate meal and snack schedules with childcare practitioners.
Communicate with management and staff regarding children's allergies and special requirements.
Contribute to a positive environment by promoting healthy eating habits.
