Financial Support Assistant
We are seeking a highly skilled Financial Support Assistant to provide expert financial guidance and support.
The Role:
This is an exciting opportunity for a detail-oriented and motivated professional to contribute to the financial health and sustainability of our organisation, ensuring compliance with regulations and contributing to effective decision-making.
You will work closely with senior management to manage daily financial operations, maintain accurate records, and support financial reporting across programmes and funding streams.
Key Responsibilities:
* Manage daily banking and cash flow operations, maintaining robust systems and processes.
* Process invoices, payments, and payroll in collaboration with external providers.
* Prepare and complete bank and account reconciliations, identifying and resolving any discrepancies.
* Produce monthly management accounts and financial reports, providing insightful analysis and recommendations.
* Assist with year-end accounts preparation, liaising with external auditors to ensure timely completion.
* Maintain accurate and up-to-date records using QuickBooks, ensuring seamless access and visibility.
* Monitor project and grant budgets to ensure financial compliance, making adjustments as necessary.
* Support reporting to stakeholders, including funders, regulators, and the Board of Directors.
* Contribute to the organisation's financial planning and budget development, driving strategic growth and success.
Person Specification:
Essential:
* Accounting qualification or equivalent relevant experience, demonstrating a deep understanding of financial principles and practices.
* Proven experience in bookkeeping or accounting, ideally in a non-profit, charity, or arts environment.
* Proficiency in QuickBooks or similar accounting software, with advanced skills in data analysis and financial modeling.
* Excellent attention to detail, accuracy, and time management, with a strong focus on delivering high-quality results.
* Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build trust and rapport with colleagues, stakeholders, and partners.
Desirable:
* Familiarity with charity accounting standards and funder reporting requirements.
* Familiarity with SORP accounting standards.
* Understanding of the cultural or community sector.
