RD&I Project Engineer
Cavan | €45,000 - €65,000

An established, engineering-led organisation in Cavan is seeking an RD&I Project Engineer to join its research and development team. This is an excellent opportunity to work on new product development and continuous improvement projects within a structured, compliant manufacturing environment.
The Role
Working as part of a multidisciplinary engineering team, you will manage and deliver RD&I projects from concept through to testing and performance validation.
Key responsibilities include:
1. Managing new product development and product improvement projects
2. Mechanical design, prototyping and hands-on testing
3. Analysing test data to optimise product performance and design
4. Preparing technical reports and maintaining accurate documentation
5. Collaborating with manufacturing, quality, technical and operations teams
6. Supporting EN standards, CE marking and ISO compliance requirements
7. Researching emerging technologies and industry trends
8. Reporting on project progress, timelines and results
This role will suit an engineer who enjoys practical testing, problem-solving and working closely with cross-functional teams.
About You
You'll be a proactive and technically strong engineer with a genuine interest in R&D and product development.
You'll ideally have:
9. A Level 8 degree in Mechanical Engineering or related discipline
10. 2+ years' experience in R&D, product development or a similar engineering role
11. Working knowledge of SolidWorks and AutoCAD
12. Exposure to FEA tools (ANSYS desirable)
13. A hands-on approach to mechanical testing and building test rigs
14. Knowledge of EN standards, certification and regulatory compliance
15. Strong communication and project management skills
16. A full clean driving licence and willingness to travel when required
