Our client is a household name and leading retailer with operations across Ireland, the UK and Europe. Due to continued expansion, the finance team is recruiting a permanent Project Accountant to its Dublin HQ. The Project Accountant plays a pivotal role within the organisation, acting as the financial lead for multiple projects and serving as a key link between project teams, Finance, and IT.
This position is ideal for a finance professional with a strong interest in project management, systems integration, and continuous process improvement. The Project Accountant will oversee project timelines, drive enhancements in financial processes, and ensure the effective and timely integration of financial systems across all project platforms.
Key Responsibilities
* Support and lead initiatives to integrate and standardise financial systems, ensuring seamless data flow and accurate reporting.
* Act as a key liaison between Finance, IT, and project teams for system upgrades, migrations, and new implementations.
* Design and document system workflows, recommending enhancements to maximise system capability and user experience.
* Conduct user acceptance testing, troubleshoot integration issues, and deliver training and support to end users.
* Maintain data integrity across all project accounting platforms.
Process Improvement & Change Management
* Identify, develop, and implement opportunities for process improvement across the Finance function.
* Drive standardisation and automation of processes, leveraging technology to improve accuracy and efficiency.
* Document best practices, create process maps, and deliver training to Finance and project teams on new procedures.
* Monitor compliance with internal controls and recommend enhancements to strengthen the control environment.
* Champion a culture of continuous improvement and change adoption within Finance.
Stakeholder Engagement & Communication
* Build and maintain strong working relationships with project teams, Finance, IT, and other cross-functional departments.
* Lead project planning meetings, providing financial insights and scenario analyses as required.
* Prepare and present clear, concise reports and presentations for both financial and non-financial stakeholders.
* Respond promptly to queries from internal stakeholders and external auditors in relation to project financials and systems.
Key Skills
* ACA or equivalent professional qualification (ACCA/CIMA)
* Strong understanding of project management methodologies and principles.
* Proven experience in leading or supporting finance technology transformation initiatives.
* Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Office (particularly Excel) and ERP systems, with a focus on optimisation.
* Familiarity with process improvement methodologies (e.g. Lean Six Sigma, Kaizen) is highly desirable.
* Excellent organisational, analytical, and problem‑solving skills, with the ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines.
