About the Role
We are seeking a Junior Estimator to join our team in Galway.
The ideal candidate will have at least one year of experience in estimating and be involved in various projects across sectors including Commercial & Fit-Out, Civic & Amenity, Education, Conservation & Restoration, Healthcare, Pharma & Industrial, Tourism & Leisure, and Residential.
This role offers training using the most up-to-date estimating techniques and software. You will work as part of the tender bid team to thoroughly scrutinise project tender requirements, review scope, assessment of costing requirements, and analysis of data received to assist in the preparation of tender costs proposals.
Key Responsibilities
* Review and assessment of tender documentation, including interpreting drawings, specifications, reports, and general scope of works requirements.
* Preparation of consultant, subcontractor, and material packages for pricing using the latest estimating software.
* Review and preparation of consultant, subcontractor, and materials cost analysis for cost comparison purposes.
* Continuous management of tender documents.
* Pricing and review of preliminary items for review by senior management.
* Assistance in the completion and return of tender documents.
* Preparation and maintenance of estimating data for reports and tender application.
Requirements
* Ideal experience from a main contractor background with relevant onsite operations experience and/or good technical knowledge.
* Minimum 1 year experience.
* Good ability to read drawings, specifications, and reports, with the capability to assess issues and risk.
* Clear and concise communication skills, with an aptitude for problem-solving and thinking outside the box.
* Capable of working on their own initiatives and as part of a team.
* Able to work accurately and efficiently while managing own time to meet critical deadlines.
* A relevant diploma or degree-level qualification in Quantity Surveying, Engineering, or Construction-related discipline.
* Proficiency in word and excel, with knowledge of conquest being a plus.
* A valid driving licence.
