What is the opportunity?This is a unique opportunity within Corporate & Commercial Banking to contribute to the development of the SE&I business which has been identified as a key growth segment for the Bank. The successful candidate will play an important role in supporting the Bank's project finance lending activities in renewable energy and infrastructure, both domestically and internationally.The role is an exciting opportunity for a senior project finance banker to join a growing team and be at the forefront of the energy transition and the development of critical infrastructure in the Irish, UK and European markets.In This Role, You WillAttract and execute new transaction opportunities and enhance relationships with both new and existing customersOriginate lending opportunities within the infrastructure and renewable energy sectorsSupport the development of an Originate-to-Distribute model and find opportunities to maximise value for the Bank through this strategyBe the lead point of contact for new transactions from deal origination through the credit process, due diligence and documentation phase to financial closeNetwork with project sponsors, key intermediaries, institutions, private equity and any other market playersDevelop quality and collaborative relationships with both internal & external clients and partners and ensure appropriate external profiling of Bank of Ireland's product offeringCommunicate effectively the business strategy, vision, values and objectivesLead, develop and motivate an engaged and driven team, at all times ensuring the team is appropriately resourced with the optimum skill-set and capability to reflect the diverse nature of the businessEnsure that the SE&I division generates an acceptable return on capitalContribute to significant Business and Cross-functional Group projects, initiatives and committees, as requiredEnsure the highest credit standards are met within the team/new business applications while having a hands-on approach to Operational RiskWhat will make you stand out?Personal Credibility: You are a trusted advisor with a strong reputation both internally and externally, capable of influencing at senior levels.Project Finance Expertise: You bring significant experience in project finance lending with a strong commercial mentality and a track record of delivering results in high-profile roles.Strategic Industry Awareness: You understand the SE&I landscape and can identify market trends which deliver opportunities for the businessExceptional Communication Skills: You are a confident communicator with excellent report writing, and presentation abilitiesInfluencing & Advisory Skills: You can bring partners on board and provide strategic guidance across the GroupAnalytical Thinking: You are skilled in project and business analysis, with a deep understanding of the financial, regulatory and legal framework which underpins project finance lendingOrganisational Excellence: You can manage several priorities effectively, with strong planning and coordination skillsCollaborative Leadership: You thrive in team environments and have a proven ability to work across multi-disciplinary teamsRelationship Building: You excel at networking and building long-term relationships with both existing and prospective clientsEssential experience and skills in the following is preferred;Significant financial and commercial lending experience in an origination roleStrong business/commercial savvy with thorough knowledge of project finance products and marketsDecisive with a high degree of personal credibilityCapacity to build & maintain relationships with existing and prospective customers, third party introducersAbility to lead and motivate more junior members of the team including handling multiple and at times competing tasks under time constraintsExcellent communication, negotiation, influencing skills.Essential QualificationsThere are no specific qualifications or minimum educational requirements needed for this role.More About The TeamThe Specialist Banking division within Corporate & Commercial Banking comprises Leveraged Finance, Property Finance and SE&I.The SE&I business finances the construction and operation/maintenance of a range of projects including on-shore wind, off-shore wind, solar farms and infrastructure projects in the transport/ education/ healthcare/ housing/ digital sectors in Ireland, the UK and Europe.This is a hybrid role, we typically ask colleagues to spend a minimum of 8 days per month working in-person to support teamwork and connection.
