General Ledger Accountant The General Ledger Accountant is a critical member of the Financial Operations team, reporting directly to the General Ledger Manager. This role holds primary responsibility for General Ledger accounting, financial administration and ensuring strict adherence to internal policies, accounting standards, and all relevant regulatory requirements. The successful candidate must consistently demonstrate professionalism, precision, integrity, and exceptional communication skills when interacting with both internal and external stakeholders. The role also supports procurement activities, ensuring that all decisions are fair, transparent, non-discriminatory, and fully compliant with public sector obligations. This is a 2 year contract position and will be based in Bus ireanns Broadstone head office in Dublin. KEY RESPONSIBILITIES: Prepareandprocessperiodicjournalentries. Completebalancesheetreconciliations,supportingleadschedulesandrequiredfollow-up actions. Processandreconcileaccrualsandprepayments. MaintaintheassetregisterandmanageallCAPEXtransactions. Prepareperiodicreportsonmaintenanceandadvertisingexpenditure. Processperiodiccostandrevenuesettlementcycles. PreparequarterlyandannualCSOsubmissionsandinternalreports. Consolidatefinancialdatatosupportannualinsurancerenewals. Raiseinvoicesandcreditnotesforcentralsales. ReviewincomingpaymentsandallocatethemaccuratelytotheappropriateGeneralLedger accounts. Processandreportonbadanddoubtfuldebts. Prepareanddistributeperiodicfinancialreports. SupportthebudgetingprocessanduploadapprovedbudgetstoSAP. ProvidebackupsupporttotheGL Executiveduringperiod-endclose. ParticipateintestingforSAPandothersystemupgrades. Contributetocontinuousprocessimprovementandautomationinitiatives. Perform additional duties as required by the General Ledger Manager. KEY SKILLS & KNOWLEDGE Must be fully qualified accountant (e.g. ACA, ACCA, CIMA or equivalent). KnowledgeofSAPorsimilarERPsystemsisdesirable. Strongunderstandingofdouble-entryaccountingprinciplesandfinancialcontrols. Experiencewithgeneralledgercodingandmaintainingaccuratefinancialrecords. Provenexperienceinperformingbankreconciliationsandresolvingdiscrepancies. AdvancedproficiencyinMicrosoftExcel,withtheabilitytoworkwithlargedatasets. Strongorganisationalskillswiththeabilitytomanagecompetingprioritiesandmeetstrict deadlines. Flexibleandadaptable,withawillingnesstosupportadhocanalysisandbroaderfinance team requirements. Strongcommunicationandinterpersonalskills,withtheabilitytopresentfinancialinformation clearly to non-finance stakeholders. Strongattentiontodetail,withafocusonaccuracyanddataintegrity.
