Engineers Ireland is the representative body for the engineering profession in Ireland, with a remit to educate, regulate, and advocate for engineers while promoting professional excellence. With over 30,000 members across all disciplines, the organisation works with government, industry, and the public to advance engineering standards and address critical challenges such as climate change, energy sustainability, and infrastructure development.

The Role
Reporting to the President of Engineers Ireland, the Director General has overall responsibility for the operational management of Engineers Ireland and will:
* Shape the strategic direction with the Executive Board, developing and executing annual business plans with aligned priorities.
* Cultivate a high-performance culture, embedding quality, innovation, and member-centricity throughout the organisation.
* Act as an impactful ambassador, representing the collective voice of Ireland's engineering profession whilst building influence and trust through engagement with government, industry leaders, and media.
The Person
The ideal candidate will be a visionary leader with the ability to articulate and demonstrate the value of membership of Engineers Ireland to Engineers across diverse disciplines and sectors. They will bring:
* Extensive senior leadership experience, with a proven ability to inspire, empower, and deliver results through high-performing teams in complex organisations.
* Proven success in shaping strategic direction, driving organisational transformation, and delivering operational excellence.
* Exceptional stakeholder engagement and influencing skills, underpinned by sound judgement and the ability to operate confidently at the highest levels.
* A deep understanding of the engineering profession in Ireland and Chartered Engineer status would be advantageous, but neither are essential.
