About the Role
Manor Farm is seeking an Assistant Animal Welfare Manager to support the delivery of the highest poultry welfare standards across our farms and operations. You will assist with welfare checks, colleague training, audits, and continuous improvement initiatives, ensuring compliance with company and regulatory standards.
Key Responsibilities
* Assist the Animal Welfare Manager in maintaining and improving poultry welfare standards across all farm and processing operations.
* Conduct routine welfare checks on farms, during transport, and at processing facilities, identifying and reporting any welfare issues.
* Support internal and external welfare audits, certification processes, and compliance with regulatory requirements.
* Maintain accurate welfare records, reports, and data for management and audits.
* Support training and coaching of farm staff, catching teams, and transport personnel on welfare best practices.
* Participate in welfare improvement projects, trials, and continuous improvement initiatives.
* Assist in incident investigations and implement corrective actions to prevent recurrence.
* Promote a positive welfare culture throughout all teams, encouraging adherence to company policies and ethical practices.
Key Requirements
* Education: Degree or diploma in Agriculture, Animal Science, Veterinary Science, Animal Welfare, or related field. Relevant certifications in poultry welfare, HACCP, or farm assurance schemes desirable.
* Experience: Practical experience in poultry or livestock farming, animal welfare, or agricultural production. Exposure to audits, data monitoring, or staff training is an advantage.
* Skills & Competencies: Strong knowledge of poultry welfare, biosecurity, and husbandry practices. Excellent observation, reporting, and communication skills. Able to work independently and as part of a team, with a proactive approach to problem-solving and continuous improvement.
* Other Requirements: Full clean driving licence and willingness to travel between farm sites.
