Crumlin Childcare has an exciting opportunity for a Room Leader for our new preschool room.
Crumlin Childcare is a community-based full-day care centre supporting families to return to Education, Training and Employment.
We have a dedicated staff team and work with an emergent play based curriculum, putting children's rights and agency at the forefront of our interactions with children and families in our community.
1.
Duties and responsibilities in relation to the service operation:
· Be responsible for the efficient day to day running of his/ her room
· Be responsible for the upkeep of his/her room by carrying out and delegating cleaning routines
· Organise and delegate care/ feeding routines
· Report maintenance requirements to management
· Inform management when supplies and resources need to be ordered
· Inform the management of any issues which may affect the efficient and successful running of the service
· Assist and participate in events such as outings, open evenings and fundraising activities (community service)
· Ad hoc duties as required by the management

Duties and responsibilities in relation to the service users:
a) Children:
· Actively promote the well-being and safety of each child in his/ her care
· Work with management to support children's learning and development through careful planning and implementation of a curriculum programme and activities adopted from the themes and principles of Aistear, the Early Childhood Curriculum Framework
· Facilitate active learning and play through careful planning and structuring of the environment, resources and materials
· Carry out and/ or delegate observations and assessments for each child and identify the needs of each child in his/ her care
· Ensure that each child's progress is documented, in addition to daily register records and accident reports
· Clearly and consistently adhere to a positive behaviour management when dealing with challenging behaviour
· Adhere to the service's child protection policy and report concerns to the designated Child Protection officer/ manager
b) Parents(s)/ guardian(s) and family:
· Communicate openly and regularly with parent(s)/ guardian(s) in order to foster a partnership with them
· Lead (regular/ bi-annual/ annual) meetings with parent(s)/ guardian(s) in order to discuss the child's well-being and development within the service
· Liaise with management to deal with queries and concerns from parent(s)/ guardian(s) in a professional and sensitive manner
· Interact with service users (that is, children, their parent(s)/ guardian (s) and their families) in a non-judgemental, respectful manner and practise confidentiality in all matters relating to service users

Duties and responsibilities in relation to the staff:
· Work as part of a team and foster a good working relationship with other staff members
· Act as a support to childcare assistants/ workers, trainees and work experience staff
· Participate in weekly/ fortnightly/ monthly staff meetings to evaluate the service delivery and the well-being of the children
· Participate in professional development, this includes day-to-day training and external training courses
· Provide cover for team members if required
· Act in lieu of the manager if required
Job Types: Full-time, Permanent
Pay: €35,360.00-€41,000.00 per year
