Chief Respiratory Physiologist Cork (Locum Contract) Salary: €81,000€91,000 per year (DOE) Location: Cork, Ireland Type: Long-Term Locum Contract Agency: Emerald Locums Emerald Locums is currently recruiting on behalf of our client in Cork for a Chief Respiratory Physiologist to join their team on a long-term locum contract.
This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced physiologist looking to take on a senior leadership role within a supportive clinical environment.
Key Responsibilities: Leadership & Management: Oversee the daily operations of the respiratory physiology department, ensuring the delivery of high-quality diagnostic services.
Supervise and mentor junior staff, providing training and assessing competencies.
Manage departmental resources, including equipment maintenance and procurement.
Develop and implement standard operating procedures in line with national and international guidelines.
Participate in departmental audits, quality assurance programs, and continuous improvement initiatives.
Clinical Duties: Perform and interpret a comprehensive range of respiratory diagnostic tests, including: Spirometry Lung volume measurements (e.g., plethysmography) Gas transfer tests (e.g., DLCO) Bronchial provocation tests Sleep studies (e.g., polysomnography) CPAP/NIV assessments and therapy initiation Provide expert analysis and reporting of test results to referring clinicians.
Ensure patient safety and comfort during all procedures, addressing any concerns promptly.
Service Development: Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to enhance service delivery and patient care pathways.
Stay abreast of advancements in respiratory physiology and integrate evidence-based practices.
Contribute to research projects and clinical trials as appropriate.
Requirements: BSc in Clinical Measurement Science or equivalent qualification.
IICMP registration preferred; candidates in the process of registration may be considered based on experience.
Minimum of 5 years' experience in respiratory physiology, with at least 2 years in a senior or supervisory role.
Proficiency in performing and interpreting a wide range of respiratory diagnostic tests.
Strong leadership, organizational, and communication skills.
